Please note that all SilverPak 23D and 23DE products shipped on or before August 24, 2007 have internal jumpers that are used to set various parameters (i.e. step resolution, hold current, and run current) on the unit. However, due to the release of the new RoHS compliant configuration board, all SilverPak 23D and DE products shipped on or after August 31 , 2007 will no longer have the embedded jumpers.
The configuration module allows users to set the above mentioned parameters and offers the below advantages:
- Step resolution change via dipswitches on configuration board
- Run current change via dipswitches on configuration board
- Hold current change via dipswitches on configuration board
- Damping modes for smoother motion
- Selection of sensing the step pulses on the rising edge or falling edge
- Selection of sensing the direction change on the rising or falling edge
- When disabling the unit, selection of either having power or no power to the unit
- Only one configuration module is necessary; a single module can be used to configure multiple SilverPak D units
Please Note: The configuration module is sold separately and can be purchased under Lin part number: 083-00048.

Encoder features:
• Max 1,250 cycles per revolution (CPR)
• Max 5,000 pulses per revolution (PPR) (quadrature)
• 2 channel quadrature TTL squarewave outputs
• Optional index (3rd channel)
• Position correction capabilities
Pole Damping™ Technology
Pole Damping™ Technology (PDT) enhances step motor performance by dampening each full step in order to create a more accurate and smooth motion profile. Microstepping the step motor will optimize Pole Damping™ Technology. PDT outputs the correct amount of run and hold currents to the motor. Thus, it will overcome the step motor’s natural tendency to want to forcefully pull towards the full step ON position.
Currently, the Silverpak 23D integrated motor + drive and the R325 Microstepping Driver contain Pole Damping Technology.

A female DB-9 connector cable receives power and provides the control connections for the Silverpak 23D unit. Active signals are optically isolated. An open collector drive is required to provide pulses for Step, levels for Direction, and Disable/Enable.
